Parent Bulletin

Dear Parents,

The fifth grade field trip was yesterday. We had a great time. I want to thank all the chaperones and drivers for their help. Go Mariners!!!!

Rooms 23, 17, 25 and 22 are working on a West Seattle landscape mural for our cafeteria. The unveiling is scheduled for June 12th.

Each year all our students take the Gates & Stanford Math and Reading tests in the fall, winter and spring. These tests give teachers another tool to assess student's academic growth over the school year. Classroom teachers will be giving these tests over the next week.

Please continue to check the school calendar for special programs and events.

Sincerely,

Barry S. Dorsey

The Book Exchange

At the end of the year we collect the library books. We still want the children to have books to read. We will be having our annual used Book Exchange in the library. It starts this week and will continue until June 15th. (June 8th and 9th the book Exchange will be closed because of the Volunteer Luncheon and a program by the Seattle Public Library.) For the remainder of June students may bring "gently" used children's books to the library and exchange them for books that other students have brought in. It's a great way to get new books for summer reading. Ms. Napolitan.

Upcoming Events

There are many classrooms going on field trips in these last days of the school year. Other all school events are just around the corner.

June 9th - Unmatched shoes day - Fashioned after Mr. Wilkie's regular Friday wardrobe choice. All students and staff are encouraged to wear unmatched shoes.

June 14th - Field Day

June 15th - Awards Assembly for third through fifth grades. We do not have a "graduation ceremony" for our fifth graders - we like to think that Graduation should be saved for high school. We do, however, have an awards assembly to present the Seymour Kaplan awards, Perfect Attendance, etc. Parents of fifth graders are invited to attend, although seating is very limited.

June 16th - Last Day of School for students - students are dismissed one hour early. Report cards will go home with students on the last day of school. Classroom assignments for the 2000/2001 school year will be mailed to you in late August.
