March 16, 2000

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to announce that the staff has approved a budget for the
2000/2001 school year. We were able to keep all current personnel and
monies for special programs. There will be a slightly different class
configuration next year. The final decision on classroom distribution and
sizes will not be determined until late in April.

ITBS testing for 3rd graders finished up today. Make-ups will be next
week. The fifth graders will be taking their test next week.

Sincerely,

Barry S. Dorsey
Principal

Parapro Week
This week is Parapro Week in the Seattle School District. Parapro's are a
very necessary element of a school. They include the Instructional
Assistants that assist the teachers in the classrooms, the Bilingual
Aides, and the Family Support Worker. We wish to thank the following
people for everything they do to make Arbor Heights Elementary a wonderful
place to be: Christine Brown, Janet Hammes, Norene Saldana, Duc Nguyen,
Chhorn Nguon, Glenda Nicholson, Transito Kelly, David Wilkie, Judy
Jacobson and Sapina Pele.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Thua Nguyen and Rudy
Morales, our custodians, for their hard work and Lori Boyer, our Volunteer
Coordinator for the time she donates to Arbor Heights. Of course, we also
would like to recognize the kitchen crew - Veda Harris and Marion Leonard
for preparing breakfast and lunch, supervising the lunchroom helpers, etc.
Also, Patti Berg-Le and Barbara Hodges - we thank you for keeping the
lunchroom noise level at a hum instead of a roar!

Middle School Registration
A reminder to parents of fifth grade students: March is the month to
register your children for middle school for the 2000/2001 school year.
You should have received a registration form in the mail from the Seattle
School District already. Mark your first and second choices on the form
and take it to one of the Enrollment Service Centers. You can mail it in,
however we suggest you hand deliver it and have it date stamped. Be sure
to keep a copy for your records.
