Parent Bulletin
April 19, 2001
Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed your Spring Break. Those of you that participated in
Easter or Passover ceremonies, I sincerely wish that they
were
memorable.
WASL testing will begin on April 23rd. The DRA testing will be
scheduled soon, I’ll let you know when it will start.
A week ago Friday Room 15 presented a fabulous performance
of “The Sky
is Falling”. I want
to thank them for a job well done.
Before the break a letter was sent home to parents
announcing my
transfer to Martin Luther King Elementary School next
year. Carol
Coram, the principal at Hawthorne Elementary will be coming
here as your
new principal. I
accepted the transfer for several reasons.
First, I
felt, along with the superintendent that my strengths would
be an
excellent match for the education community there. Secondly, MLK School
is located less than a mile from my home. Finally, the
position at King
Elementary gives me the opportunity to be at the same school
where my
daughter will begin kindergarten in two years. When this position was
presented I felt it was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass
up.
I want to thank the Arbor Heights Community for their
support over the
past two years. I
will miss you. As I told the students,
we still have
a lot of work this year to be done. I will work to make sure that this
transition is smooth and that the programs, activities and
personnel
that make Arbor Heights special have every possibility to
continue
flourishing.
Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey
Principal
Summer School Applications
If your student received a Summer School Application before
Spring
Break, the form needs to be filled out and returned
tomorrow. The
amount of requests outnumber the number of spaces available,
which is
why applications need to be handed in on time. Patti Luke

WASL testing.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION and CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS.
The end of the school year is quickly creeping up on
us. This is just a
friendly reminder that we are still collecting box tops and
soup labels
until the end of the school year. Last year the PTSA received over $300
(that’s a lot of box tops and labels) by participating in
this simple
fundraiser. Keep up the great work!
