Parent Bulletin
March 1, 2001
Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed your extended Mid-Winter Break. Unfortunately the
closure of school due to snow will extend the school year by
one day. I
am assuming the added day will come at the end of the school
year.
The third and fifth grade students have been working on
their DWA
(Direct Writing Assessment) the past three days. I want to thank our
students for their hard work over this period. The fifth graders will
begin the ITBS (IOWA test of Basic Skills) on March 19th and
will go
through the 23rd.
Third graders will take the ITBS March 26th through
the 28th. Testing
for both grade levels will take place in the
mornings.
I want to thank all of the parents that have returned the
survey on
budget priorities for the next school year. If you haven’t returned
your survey tomorrow is the last day to return it to the
school.
Please be reminded that Report Cards will be sent home on
March 12th.
Tomorrow is the PTSA Auction. I want to thank Sandy Watkins and her
committee in addition to all of the classrooms, parents and
teachers for
all their hard work in preparing for this special
event. I personally
want to thank the PTSA for their continued commitment to our
program.
This Auction is another example of the wonderful parent
participation we
have here at Arbor Heights.
As I took prospective parents on the
Kindergarten tours during the months of January and
February, they were
able to see the wonderful things you have all done for the
school. The
entire community appreciates your work.
Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey
Principal
