Parent Bulletin
May 24, 2001
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone that was able to attend the Carnival last
weekend
enjoyed themselves as much as I did. I want to thank the PTSA and all
the volunteers that made last Saturday a special event.
Tonight is the Ice Cream Social that will wrap up another
Young Author’s
Conference. Thanks
to all the teachers, students and parents that put
in the effort to produce some outstanding pieces of
literature. I also
want to acknowledge Ms. Napolitan for putting together
another
successful conference.
I-Denta-Kid will be here tomorrow for those that returned
their
packets. Please
continue to check the Lost and Found for misplaced
coats. Our
collection grows and grows!
Please remember there is no school on Monday in observance
of Memorial
Day. Have a safe
weekend.
Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey
Principal
Volunteer Luncheon
Please allow us to thank you for the time you have donated
to the school
this year. A large
part of the success we have as a school is due to
the time you spend working with the children of the Arbor
Heights
community. Join us
on June 7th from 11:30 – 1:00 for the annual
Volunteer Luncheon.
As always, the luncheon promises to have tasty
salads and desserts.
If you have volunteered your time this year (in
the classroom, doing projects at home, driving for field
trips,
Fall/Spring Clean-up Days…), please call the school office
(933-5350)
and let us know if you can or cannot attend. We look forward to seeing
you on June 7th! Remember, this is a function for ADULTS
ONLY.
The Carnival Committee
Thank you to everyone for making our Carnival and Rummage
sale a huge
success it was really a group effort with many people
donating their
time and energy (and rummage!). Thanks, also, to the staff at Arbor
Heights for all of your support. Mari Davis
>From the PTSA
Sign-up sheets are in the lobby for next year’s PTSA
positions. Some
new programs have been added including Earthquake
Preparedness
(arranging the purchase of a container for outside and
arranging
water/emergency kit purchases). Please stop by the lobby to make your
commitment for next year.
Playground Work Party Update:
Thursday, 6/7 after 4:00 p.m. – We will be removing the
existing
woodchips from the playscape base. We need additional volunteers to
take chips away from around the existing structures.
Friday, 6/8 – A contractor will be removing the asphalt
Saturday, 6/9 from
10:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Seattle Works Day Volunteers (75
– 100) will be spreading gravel and new chips. Parent volunteers will
be supervising their work.
A hospitality volunteer is needed to set up
coolers of pop/water and put up a sign thanking them
all. Media will be
showing up as well.
Sunday, 6/10 from 10:00 a.m. – Parent volunteers will be
building the
border higher around the base of the playscape, adding a
ramp and then
spreading the chips down.
I will be calling parents who signed up earlier to volunteer
on the
playground. Not as
many volunteers will be needed this weekend due to
the Seattle Works Day group, but we are planning a late
summer workday
to add landscaping as well.
Please call Janet at 935-7753 if you want
more information.
