FROM: WORLD LANGUAGE SUMMER CAMP
An
exciting opportunity awaits your K-4th graders. Seattle Central Community College, the University of Washington Middle East
Center, UW Extension, Seattle Schools, Powerful Schools, and OSPI have
partnered to sponsor the 6th year of world language summer camps
July 1-15 (July 4th off), 9a.m. – noon at John Muir Elementary
School in southeast Seattle.
This
year’s camps will offer beginning classes in Arabic, Mandarin Chinese,
Japanese, Spanish and Vietnamese. Other
languages will be added as feasible.
The cost of language camp is just $65 per student; but thanks to the
generosity of the UW Middle East Center, scholarships to Arabic camp will be
provided for low-income families.
Students
will be team taught by staff trained at the University of Washington. Activities-based instruction plus an
immersion approach guarantees youngsters an amazing degree of comprehension and
fluency in what is learned.
