Our school year got off to a wonderful start. I want to thank
all of you who pitched in to help us get the year underway.
PTA Meeting - Next Thursday
Our first PTA meeting of the year will be held next Thursday,
September 18th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Childcare will be provided
in the gym and in the library. The meeting will be held in the
lunchroom. I hope you can enjoy us.
Kindergarten Parent Meeting
If you have a child in kindergarten I hope you will plan to
attend a meeting with the teachers on Tuesday, September 16th. The
meeting will begin at 3:20 in Rooms 3 or 4 and it will probably
last about 1 1/2 hours. Childcare will be available. Watch for
details from Ms. Macri-Drum and Ms. Stroh.
Open House / Ice Cream Social
Our annual Open House and Ice Cream Social will be held on the
evening of October 2nd. Details will be coming home soon, but you
might want to put it on your calendar now.
Pepperoni / Program
Every Wednesday our school sells pepperoni at lunchtime.
Popcorn is sold at lunchtime on Fridays. The cost is $.50.
Proceeds benefit a variety of school programs.
Visitors
For security reasons we ask that all visitors/volunteers stop
by the office to pick up a visitors pass. We want to be sure that
all adults who are on campus have a valid reason for being here.

Safety Concerns
Please....
1. Don't drive your car onto the school grounds at any time.
2. If you're dropping a student off in the morning you may
use the bus zone area, but don't leave your car
unattended.
3. Don't park in the bus zone between 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
4. Obey the speed limit in front of our school.
5. Use our safety patrols and don't jay-walk.

Parents of 5th graders
You have probably been reading about the new "exit standards"
which are now in place for 5th, 8th and 11th graders this year.
These standards will be used in June to determine if children are
ready for promotion into the next grade. Five informational nights
for parents are being offered to help you better understand the new
standards. Each meeting will be from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. They will
be held as follows:
Sept. 15 at Loyal Heights School, 2511 NW 80th
Sept. 16 at Cooper School, 5950 Delridge Ave SW
Sept. 22 at Bailey Gatzert School, 1301 E. Yesler Way
Oct. 6 at Wedgewood School, 2720 NE 85th St.
Oct. 9 at Whitworth School, 5215 46th Ave. S.
Wiring
We are in the process of getting 12 of our classroom wired for
the internet. The Bon Marche', Microsoft and McClendon Hardware
(Renton Store) are helping us out in a big way. We will be asking
for volunteers in October to help us "pull wire".
Calendar
Attached to this bulletin is a calendar listing some of the
activities that we have planned here at school this year. I will
keep you informed with my Parent Bulletins of additional plans.
Kindergarten Parents
We currently have an adult crossing guard stationed at 35th
Avenue S.W. and S.W. 104th Street before school and after school.
If you have a need for a guard before 11:10 a.m. (the beginning of
the p.m. class) or at 1:00 p.m. (the ending of the a.m. class)
please return the tear-off below.
