Mid-Winter Break
The Mid-winter break begins next week, Friday, February 13th. School will be
back in session for students on Thursday, February 19th.
Notes From The Nurse
Seattle Attention Deficit Disorder Support Groups will be meeting on the
following dates: February 5th, 1998 (tonight) - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Representatives from CHADD (Children and Adults with ADD) will talk about
activities with other community resources and families. March 12, 1998 - 7:00
9:00 p.m. "Ask The Doctor". Dr Howard Uman, Pediatrician and Behavioral
Specialist will be available to answer your questions. These classes will be
held at Whitman Middle School Library 9201 - 15th Avenue West. 7:00 - 9:00

Open House for Reviewing Instructional Materials
New instructional materials in social studies for grades 1 through 5 and for
American Government grade 12 are being evaluated for use in the school
district. A final decision on what will be purchased will be sent to the
School Board in April. An Open House for parent and teacher input on the
materials being considered will be held during the week of February 23 -
26th. The materials will be on display at the Teacher's Resource Center at
Marshall School at 520 N.E. Ravenna Blvd. from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday

Coins for the Computer Lab
Time to check under the sofa cushions, turn out those pockets and look under
the car mats! This year the proceeds from our coin drive with go toward the
computer lab public open nights. Send your change in to your child's room
between February 9th - 28th. Be on the look-out for Arbor Heights containers
in neighborhood businesses as well. Tish Hesse
Science Presentation
Juanita Washington, grade 1 teacher, will be sharing her U.W. science
classwork with Arbor Heights parents at the next PTSA meeting (February 12th
at 7:00 p.m.). Come hear some exciting ideas that could help your child in
his/her Science Fair project. Remember - the Science/Math/Technology Fair
takes place on Thursday, February 26th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the school.
