Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the teasing and name calling at
Arbor Heights. I know students become more reaction oriented at this time
of year, but our expectations of students behavior must be consistent.
Please be reminded that students that agitate or instigate other students
must take responsibility for any positive or negative outcomes.
In an effort to promote positive actions and reactions, we are starting a
STAR points program this week. Various staff members will be entering the
names of students they see promoting positive actions and/or reactions.
These names will be recorded on a ticket, which will be put into a prize
box in the lunchroom. Prizes will be awarded each week to those students
whose names are drawn. There is no limit as to how many times a student
may be recognized for good behavior.
The grade level configuration and homeroom teacher assignments have been
made for the 99/00 school year. They are:
Kindergarten Ms. Stroh and Ms. Golden
Grade 1 Ms. Ballard and Ms.
Washington
Multi-age 1 / 2 Mr. Femiano
Grade 2 Ms. Marckx and Ms. Shavey
Multi-age 2 / 3 Ms. Long
Special Ed. K,1,2 Mr. Pharis
Grade 3 Ms. Salter and Mr. Ahlness
Multi-age 3 / 4 Ms. Swan
Grade 4 Ms. Sato
Multi-age 4 / 5 Ms. Haas
Grade 5 Ms. Crichton and Mr. Jordan
Special Ed 3,4,5 Ms. Hughes
Thank you to all the parents who participated in the Spring Clean-Up and
Pancake Breakfast this past Saturday. There were 25 adult and 15 children
who participated in the Clean-Up. You should see the chairs in the
lunchroom - they are so clean!! This was another wonderful opportunity
for the community to come together for our Arbor Heights students. I
enjoyed myself and felt the event was a tremendous success.
Sincerely,
Barry Dorsey

Young Author's T-Shirts
This is your last opportunity to order your Young Author's T-Shirt. These
shirts are designed by Arbor Heights students and worn during the Young
Author's Conference on May 27th. Please send in your order and money
(check made payable to AHPTSA) by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 30th.
NO TOYS AT SCHOOL
As stated in the Parent Handbook, please do not allow your children to
bring toys, games, trading cards, etc. to school. Toys that are brought
for show and tell should be sent in a bag and left in their locker or
classroom during school hours (not brought out to the playground). The
Pokeman cards are a hot item right now and they are frequently stolen from
students.
