Parent Bulletin

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I want to thank the parents and teachers for an exciting fifth grade field trip on Monday. The students had a wonderful time, even though the Mariners lost! This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I want to publicly thank the ARBOR HEIGHTS STAFF FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK. You would be hard pressed to find more caring, committed, skilled educators anywhere. These qualities have made Arbor Heights the exceptional educational community it is today. Keep us the great work. The staff would like to extend their appreciation to the Arbor Heights Parent Group that has spent so much time this week decorating the building with wonderful posters and providing us with so many wonderful treats. We feel so fortunate to have such a supportive community! Thank you. The grade level reconfiguration sent home last week was dictated by the following factors: * A very large 2nd and 3rd grade student population. The number of 2nd and 3rd grade students was at a point where a multi-age classroom was needed to serve these students. If another teacher was assigned a 1st grade classroom we would not have enough rooms for our second grade students. Our budget could not handle another teacher. * Due to budget cuts, Arbor Heights lost a teacher this year. We used seniority and category to determine which staff member would be lost. This selection method, unfortunately, caused us to lose a multi-age teacher. * We surveyed teachers to find out their preference for same grade, no preference, or multi-age classroom models. We had three teachers who had a multi-age preference and one would teach either. I didn't feel comfortable putting a staff member into a multi-age classroom if they were not comfortable with that model.
Sincerely,
|
