Dear Parents,
I want to thank everyone that participated in the kick off assembly for
Family Heritage Month. Ask your child/ren what they thought of our guest
dancers. I also want to thank our PTSA for hanging the various national
flags throughout the building. A family fact sheet is coming home today
as part of our Heritage Month activities. I hope you take a moment to sit
down with your child and share some special stories from your family
lineage.
We are hoping to have the .5 (half day) reading position filled next week
so we can begin our reading program.
Teachers are finishing up trimester grades (the first trimester ends
tomorrow) by giving district Standards Assessments and evalutating other
classroom assignments, and then preparing report cards. The new Standards
Based System is a major change in the entire grading/report card process.
Teachers are working very long hours putting together conference material
for parents and students. I want to thank all of our staff for their
extra efforts.
If you haven't signed up for a conference with your child's teacher please
do so as soon as possible.
The weather has changed and there are a lot of coats in our lost and
found. Please remind your child to check for missing items. If you have
the opportunity to come by the school, please check for unclaimed coats,
jackets or backpacks.
There will be a Veteran's Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 10th.
Activities will begin at 9:45.
Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey
Principal
