Dear Parents,
Parent Teacher conferences begin on Monday, November 15th. The grading
criteria has changed significantly this year. Students will be measured by
their achievement towards meeting a specific district standard. Many of
our students will not meet that grade level standard this early in the
school year. A grade of "1" or "2" simply means that a students has not
yet met the grade level standard in a specific area. You should consult
your child's teacher to find out whether there are issues with particular
skills or conditions that would prevent a student from meeting grade level
standards by the June marking period.
Please take the time to review the grade level standards that were sent
home last month. It will help prepare you to get a more accurate sense of
where your child is in certain academic areas. The grading system is:
- * 4 - student exceeds grade level standards/ADVANCED
- * 3 - student is at grade level standards/PROFICIENT
- * 2 - student is approaching grade level standards/DEVELOPING
- * 1 - student is significantly below grade level standards/BEGINNING
Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey
Principal
