Science Fair - Big Success
Our 2nd Annual Science Fair was a big success. Several hundred people were on hand to marvel at the wonderful exhibits your children had on display. Thank you for your support on this event.

March Reading Activities
Our focus for the Reading Campaign in March is reading for information. Children will be introduced to quality non-fiction books. In addition, the students at Arbor Heights will be voting to help choose award winning books. In grades K-3 children will be voting on their choice for the Washington Picture Book Award. In grades 4 and 5 students will be voting to help determine the regional Young Reader's Choice Award. For children's home reading we will be sending home the Sonics Reading Calendar. When a child reads for 20 minutes, parents need to sign their sheet. At the end of the month students can return their completed calendars to me and get a Sonics playing card or pencil. They will also be entered in a city-wide drawing to be featured at a Sonics game. Mrs. Napolitan

Book Recycle Program
From March 3rd through March 21st a large book recycle bin will be located in the front hall near our showcase. If you have any children's books that you are through reading, please send them to school. The books we collect will be shared with students around the city and many of our kids will get books too.

Weighted Student Formula
At the PTA meeting last month I discussed the Weighted Student Formula -a new way of developing the budget for a Seattle Public School. I received our budget allocation early this week and we have started the process to develop the budget for the 1997/98 school year. Our budget picture did not change much from this year so I don't anticipate any major changes in our school's program. I'll be setting up a meeting soon for parent input/discussion.

Middle Schools
Reminder: March is registration month for Seattle's middle schools. Be sure to call the schools for tour/orientation information.

A.D.H.D.
Several seminars have been set up in the Seattle area by the Washington State ADD Council for parents with children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders. You can call 952-5300 for more information.
