The Carnival is Coming, The Carnival is Coming!
Our annual school Carnival will be held next Friday, April 4th, from
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. It promises to be a fun time for the whole family with
plenty of activities that should interest people from 2 to 102. We could
still use a few more volunteers. If you're free to help out for a portion of
the evening please call the school (281-6230) or Tish Hesse (932-1776).
Thank you.
Our School Garden
In the very near future our school grounds will be receiving a "face-
lift" in terms of our gardens. Bob Kiel, Jean Robinson and others have put
together a successful grant application for plants, shrubs, etc. As you are
making your summer plans, please think about volunteering an hour or two each
week to help maintain the grounds. It should be a fun project for you and
your children. A sign-up schedule will be sent out near the end of the
school year.
Musical - The Three Little Pigs
On Thursday, April 3rd, the students in Room 16 will be performing a
musical - The Three Little Pigs. The performance will take place at 1:30
p.m. in our lunchroom. All are invited.
Instrumental Concert
Our 4th and 5th grade instrumental music students will be performing at
a concert on Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held at
Leschi Elementary School, 135 - 32nd Avenue.
Reminder
We are still collecting "gently used books" for Seattle's book exchange
and we're still accepting food, clothing and coin donations for the homeless.
National TV Turnoff Week
April 20 - 26th is National TV Turnoff Week. The American Medical
Association says that our kids are exposed to too much television in general
and too much violence in particular. I plan to participate in the TV turnoff
campaign and I urge you to do the same. Attached to this bulletin are some
rather alarming statistics.
Sincerely,
Carl Leatherman
