The 70's Groove

Reminder: This Friday, November 15th, the lunchroom will be rocking to some great sounds from the 70's. A real live D.J. will be on hand to keep the evening lively. Donations will be accepted ($5.00 suggested) to help cover expense. There will be a bake sale, a hula hoop contest, and fun for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent. I hope to see you there. The festivities will be from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

The conference period begins on Monday, November 18th and runs for seven days. We will be dismissing school at 1:00 p.m. on conference days. I hope you will all plan to attend your child's conference. Last year we met with 96% of our parents!

On Wednesday, November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving vacation, our school will dismiss at 2:10 p.m.

Read Aloud Family Time

Last week you received a notice from Dene Napolitan, our librarian, describing our Read Aloud program for November and December. On the back of that notice is a two month calendar. When 20 days have been initialed by you, your child can bring it to school and select a free paperback book. I strongly encourage you to participate in this activity. If you did not receive a calendar, please call the school (281-6230). Thank you.

Husky Basketball Tickets

We have been given a number of free passes to the December 3rd U.W. basketball game. The Husky's will play Idaho at 7:00 p.m. The passes are good for children and adults. If you would like to go to the game, please send me a note telling me how many passes you need.

Self-Esteem

A few years ago I ran across the attached message in a national PTA publication. It deals with the topic of self esteem. We do a lot here at Arbor Heights in this area and I hope you will take a few minutes to read this article. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Carl Leatherman
Principal
