Grounds Projects
Last Saturday a group of dedicated volunteers did a wonderful job of "campus beautification" here at Arbor Heights. They cleaned the playground, weeded the gardens, planted flowers, etc. It looks wonderful! While one crew worked in the front of the school, another group continued work on the south bank. We now have a huge pile of limbs, brush, small trees, etc. that need to be put through a shredder. WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you would be willing to put in some time this Saturday or Sunday, working on the south bank you can call Bob Kiel (244-5154) to sign-up for a shift or you can sign up in the lunchroom on the night of Open House. Our long term goal is to completely clean off that bank and then plant trees there. If you have a contact for trees you can call Bob at the above number. Thanks.
Highly Capable Student Programs
Our district offers two programs for students who perform at very high levels on achievement and aptitude tests. To enter the Spectrum Program (formerly called Horizon) or the Accelerated Progress Program (APP) next fall, a student must be nominated by a parent or a teacher soon. Student nomination forms are available in our office. The deadline for all grade levels is November 6, 1996.
West Seattle Parade
All West Seattle Schools have been invited to participate in a parade on Saturday morning, October 19th. The purpose of the parade is to show support for all of our schools. Details will be coming out soon and I'll share them with you as soon as they arrive. We plan to have our students dress up as characters from their favorite books. If your child would like to participate you might start thinking about a character now.
