PARENT BULLETIN

Congratulations Mr. Dorr!!

Don Dorr, our 4th/5th grade teacher in Room 24, has been selected as the new Head Teacher at Adams Elementary School in Ballard. Mr. Dorr has been a teacher here at Arbor Heights for many years and I can't begin to tell you how much he will be missed. The Head Teacher position is very much like a vice-principalship and I'm sure Mr. Dorr will be a principal in Seattle soon. We will all miss working with Don, but we wish him all the best in his new assignment. He will report to Adams as soon as his replacement is selected and that process is underway now.

No School This Friday

The Seattle Public Schools will be closed this Friday, October 11th, as staff members throughout the state participate in State Inservice Day. The schools will reopen at the regular time on Monday, October 14th.

PTA Meeting Tomorrow

Our PTA will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, October 10th, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the lunchrooom with childcare available in the gym. I hope you can join us.

School Picture Day

Reminder: Wednesday, October 16th is school picture day. Be sure to remind your kids to smile.

West Seattle Parade

In my last Parent Bulletin I mentioned a parade which is being held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th. If your child would like to walk with me in this short parade they should meet me in the parking lot of First Lutheran Church located at California and Dakota. The parade will go from there three blocks south on California to Oregon Street. Our students should be dressed as characters from their favorite book. If your child is planning to be in the parade they should carry a sign saying who they are dressed as. Ms. Napolitan, our librarian can help your child make a sign during recess time if you need help.

There may be a short program after the parade (I'm still waiting for details) but the whole thing should only last about one hour.

South Bank

I would like to give three big HIP, HIP, HOORAYS!! to all of the people who worked to clear the trees and brush from the south bank last weekend. You did a wonderful job.

Clarinet for Sale

If your child is interested in playing the clarinet, I have one in the office that is for sale. It was brought in by a retired teacher and Mr. Holmes, our instrumental instructor, says it's in excellent condition. They are asking $150.00 or best offer.

Sincerely,
Carl Leatherman
Principal
