Bon Marche' T-shirts
Today we had an assembly at school to kick off our 1996/97 partnership with the Bon Marche'. The Bon is planning a variety of wonderful programs for our kids this year and they started by giving everyone a T-shirt today. You might want to thank a Bon Marche' employee the next time you shop there.
Saturday Clean-up
This Saturday a group of dedicated workers will gather at the school to do some needed weeding and other grounds clean-up projects. We'd love to have you join us for an hour or two. The crew will be here from 9:00 a.m. - noon.
Open House
Our Open House will be held next Thursday, October 3rd. The evening will provide you with an opportunity to see your child's school and talk with his/her teachers. It will not be a time to talk at length about your child's academic progress (that time will come during the November conference period), but it will be a great time for your child to show you where he/she spends a large part of the day. We will also be having an Ice Cream Social, a PTA Bake Sale and a Book Fair in conjunction with this event. Our schedule for the evening will be as follows:
6:00 - 6:30 - Chapter 1 / Bilingual parent meeting in Room 10.
(You will receive a special invitation if your child is in this program.)
6:00 - 7:30 - Ice Cream Social
6:00 - 8:00 - PTA Bake Sale
6:00 - 8:00 - Book Fair in gym
6:30 - 7:45 - Classroom open for visitation
It should be a fun evening for your family and I hope you will plan to attend.
This year grade 5 parents will have the opportunity to view the state approved AIDS education curriculum materials during Open House. State law requires that students have AIDS prevention lessons annually and that parents review the program in person if they wish to have their child excused from these classes. If you would like to see these materials, they will be on display in Rooms 21, 24, and 25.
Ice Cream Social
A sign-up sheet for the Ice Cream Social mentioned above is attached to this bulletin. Please return it to help us with our planning. Thank you.
Book Fair
There will be some wonderful books available at our Open House Book Fair this year. The sale will continue on Friday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the library.
Lost and Found
Be sure and check the Lost and Found closet across from the gym at Open House. A number of articles have accumulated.
New Student Assignment Plan
The Seattle School District will be having community meetings very soon to explain the details of a proposed new student assignment plan which will start next year. The focus of this plan will be to allow more children the ability to attend a school close to home. Watch the newspaper for meeting dates and times.
