Starting in 1995, Microsoft provided a number of
things to get our school on the Internet. They funded a 128k ISDN line, RAM upgrades to 25
computers, and software. They also donated a fax
machine, a scanner, and they loaned us three computers for staff use at home. Microsoft also donated an NT server (which we used for six years!), 16 computers (486's), software, wiring for our computer lab, and technical assistance. By the spring of 1996, we had Internet access for all of those machines. We added a few more to the LAN on our own in the summer of 1996, to bring the number of Internet-accessible computers to 30. We opened the lab in the fall of 1996 for community access in the evenings. |
Thank you, Microsoft!
