    --- TIC-TECH message:
Lee Micklin's "Giving Thanks" letter is inspiring. As she so clearly points
out, there are many talented teachers using technology in effective and
innovative ways in spite of the many hats they wear. Her thanks to parents
draws attention to the importance of that area of support for schools that
are ever needy - especially in the area of technology. Lee and the staff at
Hale, like many others in the district, are struggling to address the many
aspects of technology that levy funds do not provide this time around. But
one item on the list - professional development is in fact included in the
levy technology planning process. In fact, a professional development plan
is a key part of each school's Technology Plan. In most cases,
Instructional Technology and Informational Services staff are available to
offer whatever training teachers need to help them effectively infuse
technology in their classrooms. In addition, teachers can continue to apply
to the summer Teach the Teachers program and for Gates Leaderhsip Grants.
Instructional Technology is currently developing online training resources.
Most of the teachers I am working with in the levy technology planning
process are very appreciative of the training opportunities available to
them. I am thankful that this is one area where we can support our
    teachers.
