Jim, et al: You may want to try the following URL for specific
    information about network performance.

    http://washburn.countryday.net/Historical/CCD96/Ford/final_performance.htm

As part of an experiment to determine the performance differences
between a 10Base-T and 802.11 FHSS, the tech director at Cincinnati
Country Day School found that the 10B-T network performed
significantly better than the wireless system. However, because of
CLASSROOM considerations, i.e. the school is a laptop school and
portability within the classroom was (and is!) an issue, a decision to
go to a wireless system was made.

While network management concerns or budgetary limitations typically
receive the most attention in school decisions of these types, the
consideration of end users deserves more attention than just checking
off whether the wiring works and enough drops are installed in a
classroom. If the purpose for all of this effort is to support
classroom learning, the computers must be convenient for teachers
and students to use. Otherwise, the compromises that are made because
of overriding concerns with "adult issues" will determine how and why
the technology gets used as well as whether it gets used at all.

    Good luck, Jim! --KS
