    --- TIC-TECH message:
Others have commented on this already, suggesting you get higher end
equipment, but I'll weigh in here from another perspective. If you're
working off your classroom teacher (or personal) budget, sure, go ahead
and get the inexpensive hub. Our school has been supported almost
exclusively by Netgear 10base T hubs for a couple of years now, with no
problems. My own classroom has a 16 port hub which connects my 11
stations to our network and the world. Nine of my machines have only
10base T NIC's, anyway. Realize that Netgear hubs use one of the ports
as your uplink, connecting to your lan, so an 8 port hub will connect
seven machines. Different brands handle this differently, so read the
fine print on the back of the box. Another reason not to drop a bigger
chunk of change on this is that the district standard of 8 data drops
should hit your classroom pretty soon, right? Good luck - Mark
