    --- TIC-TECH message:
This ties in with my earlier question about wireless.
One of the our issues is whether or not using wireless hubs
    will cause a bandwidth bottleneck.

As I understand it the overall bandwidth into the school will
be divided by the number of ports that are live (or at least in use).
Is this right(given there are no switches)?

I have been told that wireless base stations act as switches and not
hubs, and therefore this division does not occur (with the understanding
that their top speed is 11 Mbs). Is this right?

Maybe this question is should be saved until tomorrow at Van Asselt.
    See you there.

Eight data drops in a room doesn't mean that the district will make them
hot. That is the school's responsibility. Also, the district can't
support all kinds of hardware. I hope that the district will supply ports
for the five to one ratio of students to computers. But, there is no way
that the district can supply ports equal to eight times the number of
classrooms. At Ingraham, that would be about 480 ports.
