--- TIC-TECH message:
Hi all,
This is a question for the forum - and also for this list. In response
to the difficulty of scheduling more tech meetings, I would suggest the
problem is not with the frequency of the meetings, but with the
audience/membership. If tech forums were meetings people were expected
to go to because it was their JOB, things would be very different.
Of course, this can't happen because of the hodge-podge assortment of
technology positions running tech programs at our schools. Lab
assistants, curriculum specialists, hourly technicians, pcp instructors,
librarians, volunteers..... and on. I have to chuckle when the district
comes out with network switch requirements - with no mention, or
apparent plan for, consistent tech staffing in its schools. Is this not
a network at least as important as the hardware one?
From what I can tell, the district just waits until schools finally come
up with some sort of tech position at their school. I can't see how
anyone can get a tech plan approved without one. It doesn't matter how
it's done, or what kind of position it is... I would hope for more
leadership than this.
Here's the question. Is there a district plan for providing consistent,
meaningful, tech positions in each and every building? - Mark
