--- TIC-TECH message:
Hi All,
Here's the first official announcement of the annual Earth Day Groceries
Project - a cost free environmental education activity for schools and
their communities. In a nutshell, schools "borrow" paper bags from a
local grocery store, students decorate the bags with beautiful art and
environmental messages, the bags are returned to the store, and the
store distributes the bags (full of groceries) to happy and amazed
shoppers on Earth Day (April 22nd).
This project is coordinated entirely from the web site:
http://www.earthdaybags.org, where you can get complete participation
info, see pictures of kids at work on their bags, browse through
thousands of reports - and plenty more. (The site has just undergone a
major facelift, and feedback is welcome)
This is one of the oldest and largest Internet projects out there (now
in its eighth year!). The activity is free, easy, and it has the
potential to enrich many parts of the educational curriculum, empowering
students to become educators in their own communities. I hope to hear
from lots of Seattle Schools again this year! - Mark
