--- TIC-TECH message:
After the Tech Meeting presentation last Thursday, I had some folks that
needed clarification on how to get Apple's Network Assistant, so here it
goes:
Client piece:
Mac OS 9.0 and >:
The 4.0 client license is part of the OS 9 Install CD you get with every
computer. If you insert the CD, run the Installer, click the "Add/Remove"
components button, the Network Assistant check box is at the bottom of the
list.
After installing, you'll also want to get the 4.02 update from
http://asu.info.apple.com, it fixes some known issues with 4.0.
Mac OS 8.1 to 8.6:
You'll need to purchase these licenses. You can e-mail me directly for
this info so as to not pollute Tic-Tech with sales info. This will get you
3.5.
After installing, update to 3.6.1 as it fixes some known issues and
allows your client machines to be admined by 4.0.
< 8.1
You'll need to purchase these licenses. You can e-mail me directly for
this info so as to not pollute Tic-Tech with sales info. This will get you
3.5.
Admin piece:
The district has a license to use v4.0 admin (thanks Montlake!), which will
allow you to administer both 4.0 and 3.6 clients.
You can get it two ways:
1) I left 2 CDs with Charlie Walker, you can contact him for a copy.
2) Send me a note and I can also send you a copy.
If you have have any other questions, please send me a note off-line. If it
seems relevant to the list, I'll send it back to Mark and he can decide
whether to post it.
