--- TIC-TECH message:
Mark,
It turns out that the behavior you described with OWA when replying to
Tic-Tech messages is a known issue with OWA 5.5. There is documented
workaround, which looks like it might be quite costly to implement.
This problem has been resolved in OWA 2000. We're in the planning stages for
a move to Exchange 2000 and OWA 2000. Making that move requires a number of
related migrations into the SeattleSchools domain. At this point, we hope to
migrate all teachers to the SeattleSchools domain on the Veterans Day
holiday. Once that is done, we can convert the Exchange server and the
Edumail server supporting those users to Exchange 2000, resolving this
problem for anyone who uses Edumail for OWA.
Converting the admin users who connect to the Webmail server for OWA will
take longer. Their migration to the SeattleSchools domain is more complex
because of the variety of other services they connect to.
We will investigate the workaround for this issue to see if it is possible
to implement it. I'll get back to you once we have more information.
Thanks,
Judy

Mark,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I wasn't aware of it.
After a quick investigation, it looks to me as if the web version isn't
picking up and using the "Reply To" field. I'm assuming that's the property
you set in the list so that replies would go to everyone?
We'll investigate and see if there's a way to make it look at the "Reply To"
field.
Thanks,
Judy

Hi All,
Just a note of clarification about replying to tic-tech messages. If
you are replying to a list message and are using OWA (Outlook Web
Access), you need to select "reply to all" to get your message to
tic-tech. If you use Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape email, or PINE,
the default for reply to a list message is to send it back to the list.
I suspect the majority of other email programs are the same (how about
Eudora, Wes?). In OWA, a simple reply to a tic-tech message will go
ONLY to the person who sent the message to tic-tech.
As moderator of this list, I have set tic-tech properties so replies go
to the whole list. OWA does not follow this rule.
I have a feeling several folks may have replied (using OWA) to list
messages and may have wondered why their message never made it to
tic-tech. I have repeatedly reminded list members that a simple reply
will go to the list. So if this has happened to you - and you did not
get a bounced message back - this is probably the reason. Your message
probably went to the person who posted the message - only. I would have
let list members know this sooner, but I was only just granted a
seattleschools.org account two weeks ago (I have been asking for one for
a long time), and I have finally been able to try out the program. I am
sorry I was not able to make this clear sooner.
The long and short of this message is this: before sending a reply to
ANY message, please check the "To" field and be sure your message is
going where you intended it. Thanks - moderator Mark
