    Hello all,

I'm new to this list. I'm Kim Foley and currently living over in
Spokane, returning to the Northwest after 15 years in New England-it's
GREAT to be back! I have been working in educational technology since
the mid-80s (eeekk the time flies!). In November, I published a book
called, "The Big Pocket Guide to Using & Creating Virtual Field Trips,"
specifically for K-12 teachers. Last year, I launched Field Trips Site-
http://www.field-trips.org (don't forget the dash) which currently
features 30 virtual field trips created with TourMaker software, for
teachers to use in the classroom. I'm excited to say that the site has
received recognition from Blue Web'n, USA Today, National Science
Teacher's Association, and more. Each field trip includes an intro page,
a teacher's resource page, and the field trip itself. Yesterday I posted
a new field trip called "My America."

Currently, Field Trips Site has 19 trips on science topics, and 11 on
literature, math and social studies. I teach 2 FREE online classes a
month at TAPPED IN, an online international forum for educators: one
class is how to use the field trips at Field Trips Site, and the other
is how to use TourMaker software. The next classes are in Feb. and dates
    are found at http://www.field-trips.org/training.htm

I'm happy to be part of this list and look forward to the dialog that
    takes place.
    Sincerely,
    Kim

The principal goal of education is to create people who are capable of
doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.
