In the earaly years software licesne issues were not as big a problem
because most of our computers were purchased sith some kind of livensed
product alrady installed.
Second, the software developers were morel liberal in thrir polivies. That
has changed the swapping of licensed software between teachers is now
something one does not want to see happen.
There are still various software companies that give substantial disccounts
to the education market. However, with the vanishing mones available even
for such purchases, it is still often out of reach for schools to even
afford those amounts.
That is why se still see apple 2 machines in some schools.
It may be worth checking with software companies to see if a coop of schools
could pool their money to buy enough copies of something to qualify for the
deeper discounts.
To keep tabs on licnesed products it may be worth it to buy key software
that will manage and aonly allow the legal number of licensed to run at any
one time.
Cheers!
