Well stated, Tony! I'm encouraging our ETs to join TicTech. I sent Mark
Ahlness the ET distribution list.

Hello Mark and Tictech Folks,
I sent all our tech-oriented staff an invitation to join Tictech. Supporting
this group seems well worth the effort. A number of our staff will be
joining.
When I first started as Tech Coordinator at Hale several years ago, there
was not nearly as much contact with District-level technology staff as I
would have liked. I often felt very much in the dark with regard to issues
of support, District initiatives, or just answers to the myriad questions
which often arose. It was Tictech that made me feel I was part of something
larger, offered support, and provided information.
Now, we have lots of communication with supportive IS and IT staff,
building-based Network Analysts, and a great web site to provide
information. And yet Tictech has as much to offer as ever, in my opinion.
What I especially value about Tictech is that the posts issue from the
building-level. As much as the folks downtown work hard to enable what we
can do, it is at the buildings themselves where technology either works for
students or it doesn't. And that makes building-level experience especially
valuable for building-based staff. More than any other resource, Tictech
functions as the voice of our building-based technology staff. It is
probably for this reason that so many questions were raised about Tictech at
the last ET Forum. Many building-based staff really care about this
resource, and it should not be easily dismissed. If people want Tictech to
be better, my advice would be to get involved, contribute, and make it so.
In addition, Tictech has at times, functioned as an effective communication
tool between District and building-based technology staff. It could easily
continue to do so.
I hope staff, including District-level staff, will continue to support and
encourage this resource that has been so helpful to so many of us through
the years.
