Your best bet is to get a TV Out card. Not only that but you would get much
better resolution and quality doing it that way than any other jury-rigged
    way.

I know the Macintosh we have hooked up to the projector in our lab and they
both show desktop, but with the projector hooked in it thinks there is dual
monitors attached so it adds a second desktop. What you could do, is get
something like a Matrox G400 dual head (or something along those lines, they
    are somewhat cheap)

In fact looking now, you can get a G450 Dual Head for as low as $68 at
    www.pricewatch.com. With that I read a PDF
    (http://www.matrox.com/mga/archive_story/mar99/media/pdf/dualhead.pdf) on
dual head that says that you can run one screen to a monitor and one to a
TV. Personally working with the software, I learned that you can either
mirror the desktop on both screens, or have two desktops. You can also have
one screen zoom in and follow the mouse cursor. It's really cool. Check out
    this page
    http://castle.pricewatch.com/search/search.idq?qc=%22MATROX%22*+AND+%22G450%
    22*+AND+%40totalcost%3E0&cr=matrox+g450&ne=7911&l=7865 for prices and such.
They also show the cable you need.

And last, if they are using a PS/2 technology, then yes, I know of adapters
that can work with it. Call Redmond Cable ((425) 882-2009), they have pretty
much everything. You can try going to their website at www.redcab.com or
www.redmondcable.com, but Bess blocks those sites because they think it's
    porn.

    Dear Folks,

Greg at John Hay here. I am looking for a way to hook up some of the levy
student Dell computers to the TVs in the classrooms. Has anyone done this
with a cable or adapter yet? Or, will I need to install a video out card?

I have the same questions for a projection device. I can unplug the
monitor, and it will project just fine, but I want to show both screen and
    monitor.

Finally, I have some Alphasmart 2000s, with the round serial connections for
Mac and PC. I would like to find a cable that connects these to the USB
ports on the front of the Dells. I am trying to avoid the PC Y cables that
connect in back, because I need them to be portable (to move around the
building with the Alphasmarts). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions!
