Greg, we bought TView Gold units for all our classrooms. Simplest hookup
ever. Just connect the wires and presto, your computer screen is on your
tv. No software to load, don't even have to reboot the machine, just plug
into the monitor connection on the cpu. Great picture quality. Comes with
a remote, and can zoom, pan, etc. Cross platform, I think. About $150. Do
a Google search for tview gold. Then hit the pta with a proposal :)

When I want to use the computer to teach, I just turn on the tv, and I'm
good to go. I wish I had more than a 27" TV mounted in a ceiling corner of
the classroom, but we do manage to gather 'round in a fairly orderly manner
(after lots of practice). Works best to have a student at the computer,
with me directing things and explaining to the class. Not all classrooms
are using theirs, but more are all the time. I consider this as much a
standard piece of classroom equipment as an overhead projector was many
    years ago. - Mark
