Hi All,
We still are unable to get our cws machines to access certain (or any)
directories on our local server. We want access to two directories - which
are dynamic, contain student work, web assignments, classroom launcher
pages, etc. for all the rest of the building computers. It's where the
action is for our computers. This may be just plain stupid, but somebody
tell me why the following would not work:
Copy the two directories we want access to from our local server to the cws
(thin) server. Place them on the cws server where they can easily be
accessed from the cws machines. Give teachers read/write access to them the
same as on our local server. To make these folders as dynamic as our local
server, write a script where the cws server would fetch/refresh/update the
contents of these directories every 10 minutes (60 sec? - whatever).
Basically, this is a simple mirroring - obviously needs to be set up by an
admin on both servers. Maybe this idea can be a solution around the "trust
relationships" causing so much frustration for us. Even more importantly,
maybe this will lead our cws machines actually being used for meaningful
work.
Thanks for any feedback on this - Mark
