--- TIC-TECH message:
I have some computers that have been donated to my classroom; a PowerMac
8100/100, an 8500/120, and then a 9500/200 that may need to be repaired.
They say the 9500 might need some service, it was working less than a month
ago but now won't boot from a CD or the hard drive. None of them have
monitors, and only one has a keyboard and mouse. I went to my tech committee
to see if they can help me get them going in my classroom and connected onto
the ethernet.
I found out that the district will not support these computers or repair
them. The technician assigned to our school said that she would look at them
to see what could be done to get them working. But my request is not a
priority, and I understand. There are more important tasks that need to be
done first at the school, so I expect that it will be awhile before anyone
can get to them.
So I am asking for some help to get started:
1. Is it possible to use monitors from an LCII and LCIII on these computers?
(there may be some of these monitors available somewhere at my school that
are not being used)
2. Regarding the 9500/200 PowerMac, can anyone help or suggest how to fix
this computer without costing me a lot of money? (I can go down to RE PC to
get keyboards and mouses, but it would be nice if another school in the
district could donate or transfer working parts that are not being used)
I am still new to Mac's, but am willing to put in sometime to get them
working in the classroom for my students.
