--- TIC-TECH message:
I believe you can find the Command Anti-Virus
web site at: http://www.command.co.uk.
Yes, I also remember hearing from a Tech Forum
meeting that this software, which was handed out
by IS on a CD, is available for district use at no
cost to the buildings involved. I also think
it was mentioned that this software could be used
at home by staff and students. See the Sept. 2000
Tech Forum minutes on the inside.seattleschools.org
website for details.
We have successfully installed Command A-Virus on a
couple Win98 machines without difficulty. However,
we did get blue screens (data dumps) when we tried
to install the software on some Compaq 133 MHz
machines running WinNT 4; other newer machines such
as our Dell GX1 Optiplexes running WinNT4 seemed to
install the software okay.
Yes, you will need a logon name and password both
to download the Command Anti-virus data files and
to get an update of the executable from version
4.59.4 to version 4.59.9. I've been told that
Information Services is in the process of getting
us this information.
Hope this helps....

Regarding the new Virus Protection Software which we can legally load on all
PCs associated with the school... Can someone please direct us to a
download site for data files and discuss how it is we keep the software
current? Someone said we'd need a password?
