    --- TIC-TECH message:
There will be a short Internet outage tomorrow morning (Thursday, 12/7/00)
starting at 6:00 a.m. This outage will affect schools with Frame Relay
connections. It will not affect schools with ISDN connections or users at
IS, A&S, or Facilities. All links should be back in operation by 7:00 a.m. -
and we hope the outage will be shorter than that.

Purpose of the outage is to move the Frame Relay connections to the new core
router. This positions us to add two T1 lines during Winter Break. Adding
the T1 lines will make more bandwidth available to the Frame Relay schools.
Existing bandwidth has become quite oversubscribed in the past month,
resulting in slower response times. The situation should improve
substantially once the new lines go in.

    Thanks,
    Judy
