--- TIC-TECH message:
We seem to have gotten a couple of different threads going under the subject
of "AOL Tunnels Will Be Blocked." I'm guessing that Sharon's question below
is in response to a message in which Wes Felty mentions that he would like
to remove telnet from all his computers. We don't have any plans at this
point to remove telnet from cks. Although having telnet access to cks
available does make it more vulnerable to hackers, we know that many users
are still relying on telnet to get their cks email via pine.
We do want eventually to get to the point where everyone is using POP3 or
IMAP to get their mail - or, even better, Outlook and/or OWA (Outlook Web
Access) - and hopefully not relying on cks for other services. At that
point, cks can be honorably retired, but it's a ways in the future.
Thanks,
Judy

Pardon my ignorance....but if telnet was removed, how would we access cks?
