--- TIC-TECH message:
Sean,
I am the computer lab/tech person here at View Ridge Elementary. We
have been fortunate enough to have had a UWired student since January 2000,
and it's in our building budget for the next year.. We have an excellent
student that has been VERY involved in our building's tech plan and
implementation of that plan. He works very closely with me and has set up
computers, our building's server, installed software, trouble shoot, give
suggestions to teachers, works with our librarian, helped with office
problems, helped purchase hardware, has given me ideas, has trained me, has
worked with district people, and more. He is part of our staff and is well
liked by everyone. He has taken on an ownership in our build's system and
has invested time and energy into it. He is paid for 10 to 12 hours a week
and we schedule around his classes, but he has also put in time that he has
not been paid for.
He is NOT working with students, however; he does help out in the
lab if I'm busy. We trust his opinions and value his input. He came on
board ready to work and full of ideas.....it has been GREAT! I don't know
what we (don't know what "I") would have done without him.
Hope this gives you some insight and helps. If you want to know
more.....e-mail me.
