--- TIC-TECH message:
Schools need to be very careful about accepting computer donations. There
are a large number of individuals and organizations attempting to dispose of
their antiquated computer hardware. Much of this hardware is not usable and
will become surplus filling school's hallways and closets. Monitors now
cost $10 each to dispose of legally since they are considered and
environmental hazard. Software licenses also my become a financial problem
if they are not donated with the computers. Please help to restrict the
amount of unusable and unsupportable computers arriving in into our schools.
The Seattle School District standard for donated computer has again been
revised to the following minimums. Please ensure that no computers are
accepted that don't meet these new standards. These standards are revised
as support requirements change. Please spread the word to others.
