--- TIC-TECH message:
Space is filling up in the Intel Teach to the Future Program.
This summer and next fall, teachers in the Seattle School District, along
with many other schools from around the world, will have the opportunity to
receive free training and free software through the Intel Teach to the
Future program. This program goes well-beyond basic user skills and takes
teachers through a 40-hour training program that helps classroom teachers to
promote inquiry-based learning, and to effectively integrate the use of
computers into their existing curriculum to increase student learning and
achievement.
We only have space in Seattle for 140 teachers, and they are expected to be
in teams of 3-5 from a school. Please consider taking advantage of this
opportunity and spreading the word to your colleagues to take advantage of
this valuable staff development opportunity.
The goal of the Intel Teach to the Future program is to train classroom
teachers to promote project-based learning and effectively integrate
technology into their existing curriculum. The teacher-led trainings
incorporate the use of the Internet, Web page design, and Microsoft Office
products as participant teachers design curriculum projects. As teachers
progress through the 10 modules included in this program, they will have the
opportunity to collaborate with others and discuss ideas for using
technology effectively in their classroom. After 40 hours of hands-on
training, participants will receive a copy of Microsoft Office and Encarta
to use in their classrooms. Clock hours and/or credit will be available.
Themes of the Intel Teach to the Future program include:
Effective use of technology in the classroom.
Ways students and teachers can use technology to
enhance learning through research, communication, and productivity
strategies and tools
Hands-on learning and the creation of curricular
units and evaluation tools, which address state and national academic and
technology standards.
Teamwork, problem solving, and participation in peer
review of their units.
