Sean asks a good question here..."why setup exceptions for TCP/IP addresses
    in your Web Browser?"

Whenever you use your Web Browser to HTTP to a site, it goes through Bess.
As you have noticed, Bess slows things down. If you are going to a Web
site inside of SeattleSchools.org, like insideseattleschools.org,
Webmail.seattleschools.org, or EduMail.seattleschools.org, there is no need
to go through Bess and lots of reason not to. So, setting up the
exceptions listed below allow you to bypass Bess in going into these sites
or into web pages in other sites inside SSD and even inside your own
school. Using the exceptions will speed up your connection and take some
traffic off of the already overloaded Bess.
