--- TIC-TECH message:
At BF Day we gave our old MacLCs to families, and legally would give the
software too, since we no longer have Macs. Recording barcodes was time
consuming, but would have been necessary if they have been surplus, as well.
The old PCs we had to wipe clean because we still use the software. I
installed free software on the donated machines, like Star Office and am
looking for donations of WIN 95. Then, the social worker has to arrange to
get families here to pick them up, which isn't easy when most of them don't
have cars. This process is time consuming, but I think it will be worth it
for kids with no computers at home. (I do wonder if the LCs will be
paperweights in the homes, though.)
We haven't gotten the new machines, yet, but the work sounds overwhelming.
Our network guy said that they installed the software, and all we had to do
was open the boxes!
Fun, fun!
