    Three Intel Teach to the Future classes starting in January 2002 at Seattle
    schools:

    1/10 - 3/14 Tues/Thurs at Whittier Elementary with Liz Engel
    4:00 - 6:30
    1/15 - 3/26 Tuesdays at Cleveland with Holly Harper 3:00
    - 6:00 (plus one Saturday)
    1/15 - 6/11 Tuesdays at Ingraham with Sydni Neves
    3:00 - 5:00

    The goal of the Intel Teach to the Future program is to train classroom
    teachers to promote project-based learning and effectively integrate
    technology into their existing curriculum. The teacher-led trainings
    incorporate the use of the Internet, Web page design, and Microsoft Office
    products as participant teachers design curriculum projects. As teachers
    progress through the 10 modules included in this program, they will have the
    opportunity to collaborate with others and discuss ideas for using
    technology effectively in their classrooms.

    Themes of the Intel Teach to the Future program include:
    * Effective use of technology in the classroom.
    * Ways students and teachers can use technology to enhance learning
    with research, communication, and productivity strategies and tools
    * Hands-on learning and the creation of curricular units and
    evaluation tools, which address state and national academic and technology
    standards.
    * Teamwork, problem solving, and participation in peer review of their
    units.

    Benefits to Participant Teachers
    * 40 hours of classroom instruction on integrating Internet
    technology/Microsoft Office into your curriculum
    * Free copy of Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft Encarta 2000
    * Clock hours and continuing education credit available

    Registration Information:
    * Teams of 3 or more from a building will have top priority for
    session of their choice, but individual applicants welcome
    * Participants must have access to Internet-connected multimedia PC
    capable of running Microsoft Office 2000.
