Hi Mark and all...
"The District" is providing Dell's as the teacher machine. It is the same
Dell as the one many schools received for student use. It has both a CD-ROM
and a floppy disk drive and will have Microsoft Office Suite installed.
The choice of platform was made in order to standardize what is being used
by
every teacher for email and other applications so that trouble shooting and
maintenance are the same for all. The roll out, which requires some
in-serviced is
being piloted this spring and will continue until the end of next year when
all schools should have received the machines and the in-service.
Hope this helps in your planning.

Subject: tictech: teacher desktops?
-tictech message:
Hi all,
Has anyone heard about the plan for new teacher desktops? They were going
to be laptops, I believe, and then it went to desktops. Last I heard, some
were upset about the lack of choice for platform. Our teacher desktops are
a joke, and we need to make plans. Would like to know what's coming down
the pike from the district. - Mark
