------------
Elizabeth, we have managed to get one printer (HP) in each classroom. The
wonders of networking aside, teachers and students need to have printers in
their classrooms. Anyone who tells you different has not taught in an
elementary classroom and does not understand the importance of the here and
now - never mind convenience in an environment where every moment counts.

Do you have one or more projectors to share? Or did anyone get hookups for
the classroom TVs and if so, how is that working? We've heard that hooking
a classroom computer to the classroom TV is both cheap and convenient, but
that the TVs are so old that the picture resolution is quite poor and it is
really not worth it to go this route.
--------------
Elizabeth, we bought TView Gold units for each classroom (about $150 each).
Good resolution, easy to use, etc. I suppose you might try one out and see
how it looks on your TV's. Most of our classrooms have a Mitsubishi 27" TV
mounted on the wall. Works just fine. Not all staff use them, however.
But the units are there for when they are ready. Great teaching tool!
On the budget side, we scraped together funds from the building supply
budget to get the TV adapters at the end of school last year. I worked for
some time a couple of years ago closing a deal with our wonderful PTSA to
buy 12 HP 880 printers. They are trucks (the printers). To folks who
pooh-pooh the cost of inkjet cartridges, I say they are indeed worth the
spending of ROPE, PTSA funds, and/or building supply $. My 2 cents. - Mark
