-tictech message:
Hello everyone...
I was interested in reading Mark's comments about what is going on in his
third grade classroom and began thinking about what I have seen in
classrooms around the city this year. Teachers in our district are creative
and effective and I would like to applaud every one of you who goes out on a
limb to foster creativity and independent thought in your students in spite
of a focus on test scores.
Here is what I have seen:
A Pre-K iMovie made by students and teacher to illustrate prepositions. A
wonderful tool for language acquisition!
First graders demonstrating the science of balls and ramps in their own
HyperStudio presentations.
Second graders retelling and illustrating folk tales in HyperStudio.
Intermediate students working in teams on WebQuests about the Oregon
Trail, Early Explorers, etc.
Middle school students writing to email pals to exchange information
about culture and economy, developing PowerPoint and HyperStudio
presentations about Egypt, Africa and South America, and writing, writing,
writing.
High school students engaged in end of the year performance projects that
include technology such as iMovie and PowerPoint, art, music and rich
curricular content.
And everywhere students writing, reading and producing content filled
projects in which they are thoroughly engaged.
Congratulations all!
