    -tictech message:

I think it might be a good idea to circulate the following memo (sent to all
seattleschools.org accounts) in schools. I know there are several in my
building who have email, but just haven't seen a reason why they should
bother with a seattleschools.org account. More reasons are coming, I know -
but this is the first one that hits all employees, I think. - Mark

ps - because the url is so long in the message below, I'm taking off the
http:// and hoping the following will appear as a viable hyperlink (for the
account application), or at least a line you can easily copy/paste:

    inside.seattleschools.org/area/main/forms/networkaccountrequestformpage.xml

    -------------------------------------
Announcing the Seattle Public Schools Intranet

This past June plans were announced for implementing an Intranet at
Seattle Public Schools. As of Monday October 21st, 2002, the "inside
site" (inside.seattleschools.org) will become a secured Intranet --
meaning it will only be accessible to Seattle Public Schools employees
(set up behind a firewall). You will continue to be able to access
inside.seattleschools.org, as you do now, from inside the district
network (both local and wide-area networks).

    Changes to note

However, to securely access the Intranet from outside our network (i.e.
from your home computer), you will need to log in with your user name
and password (similar to how you access Webmail, Edumail or how you log
on to the network). Instructions for logging on to our Intranet will be
provided on the log in screen.

If you do not currently have a user name and password, print out the
    account request form at:
    http://inside.seattleschools.org/area/main/forms/networkaccountrequestfo
    rmpage.xml
    <http://inside.seattleschools.org/area/main/forms/networkaccountrequestf
ormpage.xml> . Follow the directions to set up an account. If you have
any trouble logging in, call the Help Desk at 252-0333 or email
    HELPDESK@seattleschools.org <mailto:HELPDESK@seattleschools.org> .

This added security will allow us to place more information and
functionality online, benefiting how we are able to work and
communicate. If you have questions, please email Tai Hoang at
    tahoang@seattleschools.org <mailto:tahoang@seattleschools.org> .
