A little bit of this was brought up at todays meeting. People want their to
be a tic-tech still. However Engle said something about it being hosted off
site and that it was not a district thing so wanted to make sure certain
etiquette and protocols would be maintained. I think the idea is that your
ed technologist would help facilitate what he/she learns at the meetings for
other staff. But I agree, there are some holes in the communication loop. I
have always advocated for tech forum type meetings in any case and I still
do. The librarians have had monthly meetings and it has proved useful. I
think tech people need a similar communication vehicle. Some of those
people are now in the ed tech group but not all-and it seems unfair that
some come to the meeting as volunteers and others getting paid. Not sure
what the answer is right now.

It would be disheartening to hear that the Ed Tech meetings are exclusive. I
was afraid that our information was going to come to a stop last year when
Charlie said he couldn't afford to provide staff for forum minutes. And
then there were no forums. I can't express how important those meetings
were to our understanding of the bigger picture - which is what we all need
to understand in order to take care of the technology. Then I recently
noticed that the inside.seattleschools site will become an intranet. So
that leaves only tic-tech for someone like myself. With the lack of budget
for technical talent, I don't think it's wise to cut out the volunteers and
free-hours folks who are keeping things running. Parents, uncompensated
staff, u-wired, etc. We need to share knowledge & best practices. We need
to support one another so we can do this for the kids. Thank you to Mark
