    Hi All,

I don't know how many times this has happened. A student comes into the
lab with a disk containing their finished masterpiece: a paper written
at home needing to be printed out and handed in.

Unfortunately, this student has written his or her paper using MSWorks.
MSWorks comes bundled with many computers these days and offers
everything that most students need in an office package. Unfortunately,
the MSWorks file format is not compatible with MSWord and the latter will
    not
load the former. I wonder why? We have MSWord but not MSWorks on our
    machines.
I have actually considered buying a copy of Works just so there would be
    one
machine that could read these files.

However, there is a much simpler solution. Microsoft makes a filter
that you can install, which works like a charm.

    http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/wp6rtf.aspx

It can be installed on Win2K from the local user's account. We now keep
a copy on our sever where it's handy.
