    Mark,

The rollout at McGilvra went pretty well. There were a couple sticking
    points.

One, some of the machines had a problem whereby the server would not "bump
down" the software the first time it started. This took some time to
straighten out, but I bugged Fran Clifton a bit and it was resolved. There
seemed to be a problem with particular teachers profiles, but that's all I
    was told.

Two, printers. (Surprise!) A few of my teachers took the USB printer that
was in their room and hooked it up to the Dells. They are the only ones who
can print. I have to e-mail stuff to myself and pull it up on one of our
Macs, then print. This is supposed to be resolved soon, but not yet. As we
have been warned, sharing USB printers is a bad idea, I guess it opens the
    door for virus attack

Not having control over the machines is a drag but Charlie Walker et al,
recognize that and are starting the training to make this possible.

Other than that it has gone fairly well. They are fast, and the OS is
pretty stable. The majority of my teachers have been very pleased.

    Hope all goes well.

    Cheers.

    Hi All,
My school is getting its new teacher workstations soon - January. Wondered
if anybody has words of wisdom to share - things that went well, things to
look out for, etc. We're trying to anticipate needs, so that we get the
maximum use out of these machines as soon as we can. I've done a little
asking around, but figured there must be lots more to learn from those who
have been through the process. Thanks - Mark
